One of Those Days

Hi Everyone

Do you ever just have one of those days where you get to the point where the sun is setting, you've not yet turned on your lights and just sit there and listen to what's going on in your mind.

Recently so much has gone on that I haven't managed to catch my breath or when I do I just end up wallowing in the memories and thoughts that I avoid day by day.

Nothing particularly awful has happened recently but I'm just sad.

We're of a disposition where we just go straight to autopilot and carry on as normal. I struggle to do that. I don't particularly have a bad life if anything it's better than most. I have a good job, good family and a happy relationship. But sometimes I just want to be sad.

I've always been the type who likes her own space, to just sit in my room and allow the guilty pleasures that I'm sometimes embarrassed of. One of those being having a good cry.

I've noticed recently that I'm just not as happy as I'm expected to be. Simple things are getting me going and I can't stop myself from getting worked up and bursting into tears. I mostly do it in private but I do sometimes let it all out with Toby.

I think I just wanted to put it out there that we all need to have our moments where we feel our pain and don't bottle it up.

We live in a society where if we start getting upset people can't cope with you and instantly think "what's her problem".

We have to stop this and just sometimes have a "good cry".

Does anyone else do this?

Let me know your thoughts or even better sit down for a moment, take off that mask and just let it all out. You will feel awful during but after it's such a release you'll feel so much better for it.

Know that people out there do love and care for you too.

New running trainers - Nike Juvenate Review

Hi Everyone

So after quitting my old job and starting a new one I have on average 7 1/2 more hours of my own time a week and have decided to use it wisely. I'm going to start running again.

Now my fitness isn't awful but compared to this time last year I am bigger
and more unhappy with my appearance so I'm taking action and doing something about it.

I do already own a pair or running trainers but they're starting to get a bit gross so I bought some gym/treadmill shoes. The others I will still use but for when it is not as nice outside and a bit muddy.

Now my goodness these are comfy and look really nice for running shoes. I decided to go for the light grey pair but I was having a dilemma as I really like the mint green pair in the shop too, but these will go with more :P I bought mine from JD sports for £72

I ran in them the first opportunity I got and they were very good. I need to alway remind myself to run less flat footed and with the slight wedge design it shopped me from doing so.

They're well ventilated so didn't allow my feet to get all hot and sweaty during this run and the material is so light weight it honestly felt like I wasn't wearing trainers at all.

The sole is textured to allow a good amount of traction.

And the sole is very flexible to allow you to move your feet comfortably.

I've tried on other flexible running trainers before but they weren't anywhere near as comfortable as these so I suggest you go check them out.

As for me I'm going to rest after my run.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Hi Everyone

Now I don't exactly know when this came out or if there was truly a hype about this cleanser but have I actually been hiding under a rock?!?!?!

My sister of all people who lives in the middle of nowhere in Ireland introduced me to this and I honestly feel I now can't live without it.

I've always been stingy when it comes to paying for proper makeup remover and went with the babywipe option. I just never saw the point in paying £3 for a pack of 25 makeup remover wipes when I could spend £1.50 for 3 packets of 90 baby wipes which did the job too.

Now I know baby wipes are a beauty faux pas, but when you're not exactly flush with cash you work with what you've got. Plus I use babywipes for cleaning, dusting and wiping my hands when out and about so they'll alway be on my shopping list.

Anyway back to the cleanser.

I have quite sensitive skin and especially my eyes to the point where I have to use eyedrops more often than I'd like to, so I was a bit nervous when first trying it. But much to my surprise I've had no irritation from this cleanser.

This removes my makeup easily and I don't have to rub my skin raw to ensure I get all the left over makeup from the day off. It has no perfume so again perfect for all us out there with sensitive skin. I do usually have to use 2 cotton pads but I feel it's still cost effective unlike actual makeup wipes.

I bought mine at Boots but I've seen it around alot of shops which sell beauty products. They come in 2 sizes, 400ml and 125ml which varies in price from each shop and the

This cleanser is so good I actually have both sizes. The larger at home and the smaller I keep at work to quickly take off my makeup prior to a sunbed (Yes I know they're bad for you but I enjoy them)

I honestly feel I can never go back to removing my makeup with baby wipes and has actually altered my night time routine to not be as much of a pain as it used to be.

I hope you all enjoyed this review and let me know if you've tried this? Do you think you could go back to your old makeup removal routine? Let me know in the comments.

June Homeware Haul

Hi Everyone

So I've been a bit silly recently and bought a fair few homewares which I've fallen in love with.

Why is this silly you say?? Well a couple of reasons.

Firstly I don't own my own home and actually buy things for when I do move out. I know it's stupid but I always think what if it's not there when I actually do have my own place! I also justify it by thinking "This way I won't have to spend as much money when I do move out"

The other reason being is that my mum just bought a new house. We've not moved yet but it's quite a bit smaller than the room I've got now and will struggle fitting it all in :S.

Now I'll try and find as many links possible for these products but some are just one off's I'm afraid.

Anyway lets get started

Cushions

I must admit I have an addiction, and that is for cushions, I do have another but thats the next category. I don't know what it is about them but I just love how they add a different dimension to you bed or sofa. So these 3 are something that I just fell in love with and couldn't help going to the till with.

Firstly I found this adorable cushion from Next for £12. It has copper trimming around the edge and geometric shapes also with the pop of copper. Perfect for a grey sofa or crisp white bed sheets.

The other pillows I got were both from Matalan for £8. I got for mine and Toby's future house a T and an L. I was tempted to get an ampersand too but I thought just the 2 would do.

 Photo Frames

This is another addiction. I love photo frames and no 2 the same and the more shabby chic or organic the better. I've only filled one with a photo so far so I'll save the rest for after I move.

The first frame is a wood and white net/webbed frame. Now I came across it by fluke in Card Factory for £2.99. I was casually looking for cards and spotted it and loved it. I popped in a photo from mine and Toby's recent holiday and it looks so cute.

The others I got from TKMaxx. All say they're and made in India and I just love how rustic they all look.

The first it this grey/blue ribbed frame for £5.99

Next is this blue sanded woven frame for £6.99

Finally is this wood stained frame for £6.99

These would also make amazing gifts by finding a photo of a friend of family member and putting in one of these phenomenal frames.

Now this one is a bit funny. I bought a bowl...... Now this could be used for its actual purpose but I'm going to use it as a small succulent plant pot. Now they're still to be purchased but I just fell in love with the colours of this and would look so nice as a plant pot! I again got this from TKMaxx and it was £3.99

Now from writing this post I might as well have called it a TK Maxx haul because the final 2 items are from there too!

I've needed a new mirror for almost a year now. My old one had a huge crack down the non magnified side and the light had gone as it was a illuminating mirror and the cord just began to be a real pain.  So I found this free standing mirror. Nothing too fancy, just a bog standing normal mirror one side and the other magnetised. I really liked the base too as it added a bit of character. This was from TK Maxx for £12.99.

Last but not least is this lipstick organiser. I bought this from TK Maxx for £5.99.

I was having a tough time deciding on this item as it was a choice between 2. This one which is flat and stores 24 while the other was tiered and stored 16. I decided to go for the larger one because now I've started becoming a bit of a lipstick nut I'll need all the room I can get.

I think I need to calm it down on the home ware front until after we move but knowing myself it's going to be pretty tough.

Hope you all enjoyed

Magic Mike XXL Review

Hi Everyone

Now this is a post for all those lovers of hot men, with hot bodies who know how to dance!

I went out with a load of the pole dancing girlies to watch for us was the highly anticipated Magic Mike sequel. Now this may have some spoilers but I'm going to try my best to make it as vague as possible but giving enough information.....quite tricky!

Now I found the first film really good and in some instances very deep. Now I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but the dancing in the first film as beautiful as it was there was a deeper story which I didn't expect and meant I convinced the BF to watch it too. I also know for a fact my brother in law actually enjoyed it.

Now onto the review of the second film Magic Mike XXL!

We all went to go see it on the release night and with it being the first showing at the local cinema they were giving out free posters *SWOON!* Not going to lie we look a good handful and actually suggested putting them all over the pole dancing studio! But I made sure to keep one for myself, I've told Toby it's something to aspire to :P

Some of the original characters aren't in the film and it's nice that they actually addressed it rather than thinking throughout the film "where are they?" This also helped with the storyline as the whole Idea was it was their last show and they were going to make the most of it, and oh boy they did!

This film had alot more dancing involved and holy hell if this doesn't get you going ladies I don't know what will! The dancing was phenomenal and they guys in the film weren't embarrassed to make slight fools of themselves. I actually challenge anyone to not laugh at the "gas station" scene because I was giggling my socks off.

This is a perfect film to go and watch with the girls as you'll spend a good 15 minutes after going over your favourite moments and in awe of they hotness of Channing Tatum.

Can I just take a moment to appreciate and thank Mr and Mrs Tatum for this gorgeous man!
*Moment of Silence*

Oh and you'll all be excited to go home to your man ;)

Now the storyline wasn't quite there like the first film, but for those who felt the first needed more dancing then you'll truly appreciate this sequel.

Overall a great night out with the girls and I'll definitely be purchasing the DVD!

Let me know what you guys thought in the comments below.

Easy Summer Dessert

Hi Everyone

So I don't know about the rest of you out there in the world but the UK is having a heat wave!

Now this is a true rarity, and besides the feeling of wanting to sleep in the car to have air con and having to witness some men who really shouldn't have their shirts off doing so it's been quite nice.

So whilst I'm slowly melting typing this blog post I thought I'd let you guy know about one of my summer desert recipes. It's simple, quick and tasty!

So lets get started. This is what you will need....

  • 1 Punnet of Strawberries

  • 1tsp Soft Brown Sugar

  • 1 Lime

  • Vanilla Ice Cream

1) Firstly cut off the stem of the strawberries and slice them up. I like to to it from top to bottom as I think it looks prettier. Put all the strawberries into a bowl in leave to one side.

2) Squeeze 1 lime into a separate bowl.

3) Take 1 tsp of the soft brown sugar and add to the lime juice.

4) Stir until the sugar dissolves/mixes well.

5) Add the lime mixture to the strawberries and mix. If you like you can leave the strawberries to soak for a couple of hours either to one side or in the fridge. Stir occasionally to ensure all the strawberries get a chance to soak.

6) Serve a couple of scoops of ice cream and add some of the strawberry mixture. Spoon in some of the liquid too.

Next all you have to do is sit back and enjoy!

This is my favourite summer treat. The acidity of the lime with the sweetness of the ice cream is just so tasty.

Let me know how you get on and if you enjoyed this by leaving a comment below.

Roller Lash by Benefit. Does it really work?

Hi Everyone

So I've recently purchases the Benefit Roller Lash and thought I'd give you guys a review of what I thought of this raved about mascara.

Now the thought behind the mascara is that it has such great coverage and the formula helps create that curled look. The packaging is sure adorable with the lid being in the style of an old school roller!

Now I'm a creature of habit and even though I have used this mascara without curlers for this post I have used my old and broken models own curlers (must remember to buy new eyelash curlers!!)

This mascara can be purchased at any benefit stores, department store or a boots store that stocks the benefit brand. It is pricier than your usual highstreet/drugstore mascara at £19.50 but I feel like it is worth the money. I also bought one for my sister and will give her opinion below too as we both have differing opinions but for different reasons you'll find out below.

So here are my lashes with nothing on to give you idea of the difference it makes. My lashes were tinted about 3 weeks ago so still a bit dark unlike my usual blonde lashes.

Before applying the mascara I curled my lashes

When applying you need to ensure that the wand is upright as the brush points in different direction to catch the lashes and apply the solution evenly.

As you can see it really elongates the lashes and doesn't have that "spidery" look even though I went over a few times

Just look at the difference! :)

Once applied it really looks nice, my lashes were separated and elongated making my eyes look really open.

So I also decided to take a photo after a day at work to give it an accurate review. It's all well and good showing how it looks newly applied but a mascara needs to last the day! So it was around 11 hours after that this photo was taken.

Now I think this mascara lasted really well over this time. The intensity of the black has gone but the curl is still there.

Overall I really like this mascara and will repurchase once this one has been used up. My sister however I'm not so sure.

My sister has a condition called trichotillomania, now this is not something that's life threatening at all so no need to worry there. Trichotillomania is where you unintentionally and unknowingly pull out the hair on your body, for her it's a comfort thing where if she's stressed she pulls. Now this varies from person to person as to the severity and the pulling sites. For Anna its the eyelashes and eyebrows. Over the years she has done an amazing job reducing the pulling and allowing her lashes to grow more but there are areas of damage where they don't grow as straight and gaps.

For her it worked ok but didn't give the same effect I had so she will not be repurchasing like me.

I hope this review helped as with more expensive products I feel knowing as much as possible about it is key.

Let me know if you've tried it or if this review has helped you in the comments.

Love you all

Race for Life 2015

Hi Everyone

So for the 3rd year I have once again run the race for life 5k on the Epsom Downs.

I love this race because it's alot of strong women coming together for the same cause, to help raise money for Cancer Research.

I didn't do any form of training this year which was very foolish. It was tough! I felt like I struggled more because my stamina was less so quote me on this...... "I will train for next years!"

Anyway back to the race.

The staff organising the race are lovely and there are alot of tents where you can donate clothes, DVD's, CD's etc and food tents. Toby took full advantage of the Pick and Mix! Also a lovely man who was selling fake pink gerbera flowers which Toby's lovely niece and nephew were using as wands on me after the race :)

Now back to the people in the race. They're all women and children (and a few dogs). I can't get over the spirit that everyone had and how together we were. I walked up there on my own for a bit of a warm up and was unable to pin my back sign on. Unlike some places where no one would give you the time of day, I asked a lady and she had no hesitation. I also had a chat with a lady who is now in her 6th year of remission from breast cancer and told me the first time she did it she was still in treatment and had no hair. It's those type of people in the world which give people like me who have petty problems which we all have and turn mountains into mole hills a bit of humility.

The whole theme for this years race was the PINK ARMY. Great Idea. We're all soldiers in this fight so fantastic marketing Race For Life!!!

There was a warm up just before and they loaded up a T-shirt canon and fired them into the crowd. So we were all pumped up and ready to go.

I went to the starting line, turned on the radio on my phone, ear phones in and past the starting line. Now Epsom Downs is hilly! I see some races they do which are in flat parks, I'm envious of those races. But no matter the terrain I did it. I ran (and walked at some points) the whole course and came to the end puffing, panting and sweaty.

I was one of the lucky ones with my name announced too :P

After you pass the finish line you walk through the barriers and they hand you your medal, a bottle of water and a brioche. I just kept stubling my way through until I saw Toby and his sister. I literally lay on the ground and munched away on the brioche to get some sugar into my body and sipped on my water. Today the medal was like dog tags for the whole pink army theme. Cool huh!

I'm proud that I pushed myself as much as I did because on quite alot of occasions this year I thought "screw it I'll walk" but I just kept on thinking of the people I wrote on the back of my T-shirt. Their struggle I witnessed..... and thought don't be so silly jus keep going! I ran this for them. 3 of the strongest men I've ever had in my life.

I can't wait to sign up for next year and continue my medal collection and to raise money for such a great cause.

A final thanks to my amazing family and friends who donated and together we raised a total of £112!
