Organising my Drawers

Hi Everyone!

Now I don't know about you but I used to be one of those people who would force items into my drawers and hope to god they would open the next time I try to open them. I think this is a typical girl trait where we have so many clothes that we keep for "what if" and end up losing gems in the mess of fabric.

Not anymore for me! Recently I got sick of not being able to access anything easily so I took the initiative to organise them from the very top to the bottom.

First off I shall show you the top of my drawers which has become a real show piece in my room and I am in love with what I've done!

First of all is this French advertisement print I found in a local market. All I did was purchase the pewter frame from Wilkos. I love that this came out so chic and fits the space perfectly.

To the right I have some of my perfumes such as Ralph Lauren Pony collection in number 2, CK shock and CK in 2 U. A lucky bamboo in a small vase both from Ikea. (bad photo I know!)

I also have a picture of me and Toby on a night out after I ditched my Christmas party. It's a duck egg blue distressed frame from Cargo

I have a couple of candle holders a stunning bronze/rose gold and sleeping owl. These Candle holders are from a shop called Lagerhaus in Sweden. Unfortunately they don't ship overseas but if you ever go over definitely have a look!

To the left I have a couple more perfumes such as Ralph Lauren the pony collection in 1 and a Disney store perfume called Pixie Dust. The old teddy was my dad's when he was a baby and he gave to me when I was little. The glass bottle is filled with small white stones and a fake white orchid put in, all from Ikea.

This is a nifty Idea, my sister gave away these Ikea frames in her bridesmaid gift bag. Included in the bag was a Welsh wedding spoon as she was playing around with our heritage (us being Swedish, Welsh etc) Instead of having the spoon just hanging about with no purpose I got a bit of blue tack and stuck it to the frame and included a picture of all of us bridesmaids together. It's a great little reminder of the day.

Now lets look at my drawers. Now I'm not going to show my top 2 drawers as the contain my undergarments which I'd like to keep to myself! I got this chest of drawers from Ikea in the colour white stained oak veneer.

To organise I bought drawer dividers from Ikea. In a packet you get 6 dividers, 2 small square, 2 rectangular and 2 large square . I've used about 4 packets of dividers to sort my stuff but I might have gone a bit OTT

So in my top large drawer I have my tops and work uniform. So I can see everything I have folded then rolled so I can see EVERYTHING and nothing gets forgotten.

I have my work uniform in a small square bin in the top left.

Below that I have my sloppy work out tops in another small square bin, at a push I can fit 6-7 vest tops in there.
In the top middle I have a very large denim shirt that refused to roll nicely so I just popped in in there.

Below the shirt in a large square bin I've got longer sleeve casual tops

Top right in a rectangular bin I have smart strappy tops that would have just gotten lost in my wardrobe.

Finally in the bottom left in a large square bin I have all my casual strappy tops and boob tubes.

Next Drawer down are all my skirts and trousers. This is the most "over stuffed" drawer as I think I could afford to get rid of some more jeans!

On the left hand side I've folded all my jeans and lay them on the side so I can see them all

Middle top I have a small square bin with plain tube skirts in different colours all rolled up nicely!

Below that are leggings and harem type trousers in a rectangular bin. These have all been rolled up but I think I'll outgrow this bin soon.

Top right are all my shorts in a large square bin. These were tough to roll tightly hence the larger bin

Finally bottom right are all my smarter, patterned and midi skirts. Again all rolled up and on their side so I have a clear view of what I have.

The next drawer is a bit of a mish mash or things but it has space to add more clothes to which for me is a bit of a danger!

So starting top left I have my hoodies. I've folded them in a "shop style" as it makes it much neater in my opinion

Below in a rectangular bin are all my maxi skirts. I've folded and stored them on their side to again see what I have.

Middle top are some undergarments that would not fit in the smaller drawers.......

Below in the little gap are some sports bras

Top right in a small square bin are some woolly hats (told you it was a mish mash!)

Finally bottom left are my sports/fitness bottoms. Again all rolled so I can see them all

In my final drawer are all my pyjamas!

On the left in a large square bin are all pj tops.

In the middle in a rectangular bin I have rolled up my onesies and long cotton pj bottoms

Top right I have a small square bin containing my pj shorts

Last but not lease folded up are my big comfy pj bottoms. I tend to wear men's trackie bottoms and I swear they are the most amazing thing in the world!

I highly recommend that you sort your drawers out as I was shocked at the amount of clothes I had lost in the disorganised mess I had before!

All my unwanted clothes I donated to charity and in turn cleansed my mind my clearing my drawers!

Well why not give it a go and let me know how it turns out!

I Got an Interview

Hi Everyone

So the strangest thing happened in my search for work.

As I said in a previous post all I've been getting is calls about finance and credit control roles which is what I'm trying to get out of.

So I got a call from a recruitment firm asking about this great role in credit control for good money etc but I had to say no. I explained to the guy I'm looking to get out of finance and go into the world of estate agency. Ironically the guy said to me he used to be in that world and it wasn't too great, but had I thought about recruitment?

I was taken aback by this question as it never really popped into my head to become a recruiter but as I know from experience they get great commission by getting people job roles I though **HMMMMM MAYBE?!?!?**

The guy was really nice and told me that in his company a colleague in another division was looking for a new recruitment consultant and would I consider it? I said "sure why not". He explained how my background in finance would help as that's what they mainly deal with and it basically like an estate agent except your selling a job not a house. Also him mentioning not working weekends was a bonus :P

So I went for it. I asked for a job description and organised a time where I could escape work and go for the interview.

Now that's the tricky part, getting out of work. So I went for the old classic.....I have a doctors appointment. I made up that I needed to get my blood pressure taken for my pill and they bought it. I even gave myself extra time to get changed out of my uniform, apply make-up and prepare.

So what did I wear?

I feel for an interview you need to look smart but not boring and I think I achieved it with this outfit

Now everything I wore is not in the shops anymore but I'll give links to similar products or the relevant website.

I'm wearing a pair of black smart trousers from ASDA, very cheap at around £6

A coral under top from H&M, but any colour under top would go nice with this

A sheer white flowy vest top from Vero Moda (I bought this in Ireland a couple of years ago)

Black Waterfall Blazer from Miss Selfridge, but I found something similar from New Look

And on my feet a pair of simple black heels, but my feet have since shrunk so I had to tense my toes to keep them on :P I found something similar from H&M

For accessories I kept it simple and Gold

A couple of gold band rings from H&M and a cross over midi ring from River Island. The nail varnish I'm wearing is Peaches and Cream by Tanya Burr

A origami swan long line necklace also H&M, I got this 2 years ago but I think this one from Boohoo would go perfectly

Finally my ASOS watch I got from Toby for my birthday

So, the interview...... I feel it went really well. The office seems young and full of fun compared to me being the youngest by at least 15 years in the company I work for at the moment. It's got great commission if I work hard enough (which I will for money). The guy who could be my potential boss seemed really nice and responded well to my answers to his questions. I guess it's now just a waiting game to see if I get it.

But just in case I don't I've been applying for lots of other jobs. I can't put all my hopes into this one interview (even though I secretly have), you need to keep applying until you get a firm YES!

So wish me luck with this, and if I don't get it then so be it. I'll dust myself off and keep trying

Lush Gift Box "Don't Knock it til you've tried it" Review

Hi Everyone

Now I was a very lucky girl and got this Lush gift box from Toby for my birthday. Now bless him he told me he was completely lost when in the shop but he knew I liked their stuff so he stuck it out and picked this gift box with lots of little thing which most I've never tried.

First lets start off with the packaging. How adorable is it! All the products come in this tin lunch box. It's so cute that I've decided I'll use this to store all future Lush products I get.

So what's inside?

In total you get 7 products which span several categories. I'll list them from left to right

  1. Each Peach - Massage Bar
  2. Miranda - Soap
  3. Sparkle - Toothy Tabs (solid toothpaste)
  4. Karma Komba - Shampoo Bar
  5. You've Been Mangoed - Luxury Bath Melt
  6. The Comforter - Bubble Bar
  7. Blackberry Bath Bomb
So let me review them 1 by 1

Each Peach Massage Bar

Now I've purchased this twice before getting this gift box and have thoroughly enjoyed it. All you have to do is rub the bar over your body. Your natural body heat helps melt the bar and moisturise your skin leaving it soft and smelling fantastic. It's also nice to use with a partner so lie down and allow them to massage this into your back. It feels amazing!

Miranda Soap

I'm not a block soap kind of girl as I feel they don't lather as well as a shower gel, so you can imagine my shock when this gave a really thick lather. A fruity smell and cute presentation with the "fruit" soap pieces inside make this all the more enjoyable.

Sparkle Toothy Tabs

1 word....ICK! I don't know if it was because it was in this tin with other "soapy products" but it tasted of soap. I didn't taste the mint at all. I love the concept and see how if you were travelling it would be a handy thing to pop into your backpack. I personally will never repurchase.

Karma Komba Shampoo Bar

Now this was a surprise for me as I'm a lover of the normal liquid shampoo. So when giving this a go I wasn't open minded at all, but I was shocked how it actually worked! I had to lather it up alot in my hair but once I had washed it and after conditioned with my usual brand it felt nourished and clean. I can see this being handy if going on a small trip abroad and you can pop it in your bag without worrying about the liquid restrictions.

You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt

I'd only purchased one of these about a month before this gift box and really enjoyed it. I like to chop mine up into around 8 slices to make it last longer and feel 1 slice is more than enough to give the desired effect. Smells like mango as expected, and does leave your skin feeling nourished after your bath

The Comforter Bubble Bar

I think any Lush lover has tried this at least once or are an avid user of this blackcurrant wonder. In the gift box you get a smaller size then if you were to buy it individually but I could break it up easily into 3 baths. just crumble under running water and just watch the magic happen. Plus it turns you bath water a pretty pink.

Bath Bomb

This bath bomb is massive so I split it in half and used it for 2 baths. It turns the water a beautiful lilac colour. The fragrance is meant to be but I felt it was more floral. It wasn't an intense floral smell otherwise I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. So inside this bath bomb is a little surprise I wasn't aware of. I all of a sudden spotted something floating in the water. on closer inspection I saw it was a little piece of paper saying "BOOM BOOM". Do you get it?....bath bomb?...boom? I just thought it was an adorable little touch.

Overall I enjoyed 6/7 products in this gift box so it was definitely a winner. The boy did well :P

I hope you enjoyed my review of this Lush gift box. It's certainly opened my eyes to a couple more products I otherwise would have never tried.

Looking for a New Job

Hi Everyone

Looking for a new job is a scary prospect for anyone. To leave something you're familiar with is a big leap of faith so that is exactly what I've done.

I work in Credit Control. It's a finance job where I call up customers and demand they pay their bills that are overdue. It's not fun and I feel so mean doing it half the time I've just lost all "oomph" for the job.

So what have I done?

Well I had a long think about what I want to do and no matter what popped into my head the thought of becoming an Estate Agent wouldn't leave. So that's what I've decided to do.

Now I had no idea where to begin as I has always applied for financial jobs where all I'd need to do is pop onto a recruitment website and the rest would be done for me.

The only problem with me doing that is that every single recruitment company is calling me about credit control jobs. in 2 days I've had 5 calls about finance job and having to let down those poor recruiters saying no and I want to get out of it all together. Thankfully they're really nice and a couple have offered me some great advice as to becoming an estate agent, so over all their calls have helped

So what have they advised. They told me to look at individual companies websites and email, call and apply for anything they have online. So far I have applied for 4 trainee jobs in my local area but with my experience being all in finance I took it upon myself to let them know why I'm applying and feel I have got it down to a "T"

So this is what I sent alongside everything I applied for online and emailed to people to show why they should employ me

Dear Sir/Madam

Please find attached my CV

As you can see from looking at it I don't have any prior experience when it comes to your sector, but I'm very much wanting to become a part of it.

At 24 I feel I'm ready to make a career change and to make it permanent. I have worked in credit control for 4 years and in doing so have developed great customer service skills. As you can imagine not many people like being asked for money so I have to be determined yet fair, and in doing so have given great results. I'm hoping these skills could transfer into your company and deliver similarly.

I'm very target driven and feel my people skills and good presentation could be an asset to your company.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and my CV and I look forward to hearing from you

Louise Lawson

*******************************************************************************

To the point, professional and tells the potential employer all about me without them getting board reading copious amounts of stuff.

So I guess I've just got to keep my ear close to the ground, hope for responses and keep persevering. Keeping all of that in mind ensures I will get something and get 1 step closer to my dream

I'll end this post with the message to really go for what you want. Life's to short to be miserable. It's hard to make that initial step, get knocked back and leave your comfort zone but in a years time I can see myself finally happy and fulfilled in my job

Walk with me

Hello everyone!

This is going to be a bit of a long photo blog showing you the things I see on my walking route. I'm very lucky to live on Epsom Downs and it boasts some spectacular views and history as it's home to the famous Epsom Derby. So I went out with my camera and thought I'd share it with you.

First of all let me show you what I wear to go on my walks.

Below is few pictures of what I wear. Obviously as I try to walk every day I do have variations but I thought I'd show you my favourite.

Sports Bra/Top - Asda £5. Now I have a large chest.....32G and I fit in a size small which is an 8-10 very comfortably and feel supported.

Basic Vest Top - H&M £3.99. Now I have tonnes of these as undertops in many different colours and you can get them anywhere, Primark do amazing priced undertops. So when my day to day wearing tops get a bit ratty or have deodorant marks I use them to work out. No point binning it when it's still perfectly fine.

Hoodie - Primark mens department. Now the neon is pretty intense and I wouldn't wear it on a daytime walk. My friend Daniel gave it to me for when I walk when it gets dark so I unfortunately don't know the price and am pretty sure they don't sell this anymore, but it allows me to be easily spotted by cars. SAFETY FIRST!

Bottoms - Asda £10. These are SOOOOOO comfy! I can wear these all day. It has a hidden media pocket in the waistband and just fits my Samsung S3 mini. Any larger than that and you'd have to go the Ipod route. With these trousers the pockets larger than others I have so can fit my debit card in too.

Socks - £2.50 for a pack of 5 Primark. Absolute bargain and pretty colours and designs. A note to all..... NEVER go on a long walk without socks, blisters suck!

Trainers - Reebok Easytone from Amazon for around £50. These are my second pair as I wore my old pair to death. These trainers have raised sections which make you walk slightly different and helps tones your legs and bum.

Accessories - I pop my house key on a Cath Kidston lanyard and wear it around my neck to ensure it doesn't get lost. Phone/media player to listen to music or the radio. Comfortable headphones, you don't want something too "clunky" on your head. Finally my trustly pedometer to monitor my steps to make sure I'm doing at least 10,000 steps

So lets go!

I'm going to try and do this in some sort of chronological order but don't worry I won't caption them all and apologies for any dodgy camera work. But I think the stunning weather and everything blooming in spring will make up for it

They're right about the horses. They can be a bit of a nightmare when you're running late for work and trying not to spook them with your car.

Wembley Stadium in the distance
Around the course and look out point is a golf course. I avoid going near the holes in case I get knocked out by a golf ball :-p

Approaching the Grandstand

At the main look out point there is a plaque detailing certain points you can see. Unfortunately as it's from the 80's the skyline has changed and trees have gotten in the way.  Also the details were so tiny I couldn't get a good picture

Central London in the distance. On the right is the Shard

The finishing line for the Epsom Derby held on the first weekend in June. On the left you can see a post with a white dot on a red background, that is where the finishing line is. Also the amazing Rubbing House pub in the background. AMAZING FOOD!

Now at this point I go into an underground walkway which take no more than a minute to be back in the sunlight, but in this walkway is something really inspired. Now I witnessed the pictures below being painted last year so it's exciting to see them all completed and taking time to study each horse and the detailing. I find them fascinating and love how it really evokes the Epsom Derby whist poking a bit of fun at the names owners call their horses. I've given some description but not detailed, I'm sure you can work it out for yourself. I didn't feel right leaving a single one out so I've decided to show them all. The artist has a website so why not check them out.
Walkway Entrance

Ashford Boy and Lilululula Bebob-Blue. Showing the Queen stand and the Epsom Derby logo

Francis Prancer showing Jockey colours and the starting gates

Banquet at Tiffany's, Such a perfect name as it depicts Ladies Day!

Cefyl Ieuen (I think that's right?) and Coffee Bean Caela. These horses show a jug of Pimms, and a roofless double decker. Companies hire them out and people just hang out watch the racing and get smashed.....on Pimms

Sir Dobbin Strummer III, Princess Georgie Girl Walnut Tree and Lord Regent Jonathon Von Copperpot. These horses depict the funfair in the centre of the course and a man who would be in the main grandstand with the usual top hat watching the race through binoculars. *WARNING ARTY COMMENT!* I love that it shows the segregation of the day withthe upper class guests on the grandstand and all other people who would be at the funfair. It's like he's looking down on the "normal" people.

Lady Raquel. This horse shows the 1 furlong sign until the finish and Tattenham Corner which is a spot on the course they always mention.

Princess Meeracle Showing the spectators on the grandstand watching the race

Ash Asington Riviera again showing people on the grandstand watching the race.

Princess Natalie Lalalahola winning the face showing the finish post and a popping bottle of champagne.

Out onto the centre of the Epsom Downs
************************************************

On the left is the Queen stand and the new Duchess stand on the right. The roof blew off for the second time during the Christmas storms, hence the cherry pickers

Occasionally the loudspeakers play out music. Last time they played a Maroon 5 Album.......

The balcony where the Royal Family watched the races last year

Horses exercising

This guy was flying a model plane. Loads of people meet up here on a Sunday to fly their planes

I put this in just for a giggle as this building is toilets and a notorious "dogging spot"

It can get really windy here so you will always find a family flying a kite. I used to be the kid who would fly theirs. Sometimes the professionals bring out the big boy kites but none were out today

Me

The small shack is actually a little food hut called the Lunch Box. They do THE BEST chips ever! nothing quite like sitting on the downs munching away on them.

This is a plaque to remember the Suffragette Emily Davison who on the 1913 Derby jumped in front of the kings horse and died for women's rights.  Sorry about the double vision but it's a floating glass plaque and the sun was just not cooperating.

Tattenham corner hill. If you watch the derby you'll see tonnes of people watching the race from this great vantage point.

This is the notorious Tattenham corner on the course. When I was little I remember my family watching from here the horses bounding round the corner.

This of all things is a button for the crossing. nothing too spectacular but its raised so you can press it whilst on horse back and distanced from the actual crossing so the horses don't have to wait.

I love that they've used horses rather than the "green man"

Due to the rich equestrian history the Downs is surrounded my stables

The small shop parade of Tattenham corner. Also home to my local and favourite sunbed shop  (I know they're bad for you)

This is the other side of Tattneham hill. After taking this photo I found it really interesting seeing the 2 separate relationships where you see a young couple and a man and his dog.

When taking this picture a mother and her son walked past with fish and chips lavished in salt and vinegar. That smell didn't leave me all day and I ended up getting it for dinner :-p

Blossoms all along the road......picture ruined by a speed camera!

I love spring time, blossoms just epitomise spring perfectly

One of the casualties from the Christmas storms

50 meter crane above my head.

Just over the road is a lovely park I used to go to as a kid

A telephone mast disguised as a tree. This is so ridiculous looking it would have been better as a bare mast!

Just spotted these ivy peeking through a fence

A wall of ivy leading me towards home.
And that was me home. On this walk I did around 9,500 steps so it's perfect to keep to my goal of at least 10,000 a day as I work sitting in front of a computer all day it's the best thing for me to get it all done in one go.

I hope you enjoyed the views of my walk. I feel so lucky to live where I do With such a beautiful surrounding I never find it trying to make myself go out as I can just enjoy nature and the quirkiness of my home town.
