Race for Life 2015

Hi Everyone

So for the 3rd year I have once again run the race for life 5k on the Epsom Downs.

I love this race because it's alot of strong women coming together for the same cause, to help raise money for Cancer Research.

I didn't do any form of training this year which was very foolish. It was tough! I felt like I struggled more because my stamina was less so quote me on this...... "I will train for next years!"

Anyway back to the race.

The staff organising the race are lovely and there are alot of tents where you can donate clothes, DVD's, CD's etc and food tents. Toby took full advantage of the Pick and Mix! Also a lovely man who was selling fake pink gerbera flowers which Toby's lovely niece and nephew were using as wands on me after the race :)

Now back to the people in the race. They're all women and children (and a few dogs). I can't get over the spirit that everyone had and how together we were. I walked up there on my own for a bit of a warm up and was unable to pin my back sign on. Unlike some places where no one would give you the time of day, I asked a lady and she had no hesitation. I also had a chat with a lady who is now in her 6th year of remission from breast cancer and told me the first time she did it she was still in treatment and had no hair. It's those type of people in the world which give people like me who have petty problems which we all have and turn mountains into mole hills a bit of humility.

The whole theme for this years race was the PINK ARMY. Great Idea. We're all soldiers in this fight so fantastic marketing Race For Life!!!

There was a warm up just before and they loaded up a T-shirt canon and fired them into the crowd. So we were all pumped up and ready to go.

I went to the starting line, turned on the radio on my phone, ear phones in and past the starting line. Now Epsom Downs is hilly! I see some races they do which are in flat parks, I'm envious of those races. But no matter the terrain I did it. I ran (and walked at some points) the whole course and came to the end puffing, panting and sweaty.

I was one of the lucky ones with my name announced too :P

After you pass the finish line you walk through the barriers and they hand you your medal, a bottle of water and a brioche. I just kept stubling my way through until I saw Toby and his sister. I literally lay on the ground and munched away on the brioche to get some sugar into my body and sipped on my water. Today the medal was like dog tags for the whole pink army theme. Cool huh!

I'm proud that I pushed myself as much as I did because on quite alot of occasions this year I thought "screw it I'll walk" but I just kept on thinking of the people I wrote on the back of my T-shirt. Their struggle I witnessed..... and thought don't be so silly jus keep going! I ran this for them. 3 of the strongest men I've ever had in my life.

I can't wait to sign up for next year and continue my medal collection and to raise money for such a great cause.

A final thanks to my amazing family and friends who donated and together we raised a total of £112!

Everyman Cinema Experience

Hi Everyone

So I decided to do an alteration for one of Toby's and my date day/nights.

A trip to the cinema is pretty standard and we always go to a local odeon because it's easy and close to home.

But today we decided to go to a different cinema chain called Everyman Cinema.

And to be totally honest I don't think I could see myself enjoying going back to an Odeon it was that nice of an experience.

Now we went to the Walton cinema because for us it was the closest that was showing the film we wanted to watch, but still a bit of a drive away from home.

But It was totally worth it.

The decor or the cinema was really relaxed and what I can only describe as hipster. They had old movie posters as the wall paper going up the stairs and what looked to be an apothecary table in the foyer. I loved it.

There was a screen upstairs and downstairs so the films shown were limited but that kind of thing doesn't bother me, if anything it makes it a little more special and means they'll show the better films that would be out.

We watched Jurassic World and for a 2 people it cost a total of £28.50 for the seats. A tad pricier than an Odeon but it was a nice little treat and worth spending a little bit more.

Upstairs was the bar which has a lounge area where you can relax before your film but we're always a bit late to avoid the trailers so didn't utilise this area to its full extent but of course made a trip to the bar.

So like a usual cinema you order you drinks and take them to your seat, but here's the cool part. If you order food, dependant on if your film has started they'll serve it to your seat. So no hanging around and you don't miss a pivotal moment in your film

With the food they had so much on offer from picky food like popcorn, olives and Wasabi peas, sweet treats like cakes, cookies and retro sweets and also hot food such as garlic bread and pizza. Toby and I ordered pepperoni pizza and a hotdog. YUMMY! Also it wasn't like cheap meat hotdog it actually tasted nice.

But this has to be the bast part. The SOFAS!!!! It was so nice to just melt into a sofa like you do at home rather than the seats that you have on an aeroplane which sit you upright. If you're like me I can't sit still in an upright chair these seats are prefect to really get comfortable in.

We went for a 2 seater sofa which was lovely because I just snuggled up like I do at home. And for Toby who likes to stretch his legs there's plenty of room and even a ledge to rest your legs. So none of this feet on the chair in front business

We had such a nice time and felt like we were watching a film at home it was that chilled and enjoyable.

I can't wait to go back and will keep my eye open for another amazing film to enjoy.

Also sorry for some of the obscure angles on the photos, was a bit awkward taking photos in the cinema!

Pleasers (aka Stripper Shoes)

Hi Everyone

So I bought something lately which is a little out of the ordinary. As you can tell by the title I bought stripper shoes.

Being immersed in the world of pole you will inevitably find yourself face to face with a pair of these.

So let me introduce you to my new pair of Pleasers!

Why are they called pleasers? I'm not really sure but my thoughts are because for one they're associated with the pole dancing industry and they elongate your legs by a minimum of 8 inches which is quite attractive.

There were alot to chose from but I decided to go with the chrome pair for the only reason (which typing it here seems ridiculous now to think about it) is that this colour would go with more! :-P

Now if you're used to heels, which I am, you'll find them easier to walk in than you think. But you must be careful. They do have a good grip on the sole of the shoe but due to its height you can have an ankle wobble now and then.

I ordered mine online from a website called Wear If U Dare which have a HUGE selection to choose from. Mine cost £54.95 with free p&p. Quite pricey but as we have alot of weeks in class where we wear heels I know they will be used regularly.

Now sizing is something I was nervous about as my shoe size varies from shop to shop and dependant on the style. For example I'm a size smaller in heels than I am in flats?!?!?!

But after trying on other classmates who had some I went for a size UK 5 with the 7 inch height. (I'm usually a 4 in heels)

They fit me very comfortably but with some the plastic over the toe area can be a little tight but stretches once they warm up.

Now I keep mine in the box they came in as they're all bagged separately to avoid scratches as the chrome colour looks amazing untarnished!

Overall I'm so happy I purchased them as they're so fun in pole class and if you hit the sole under the toe area they "clap" which is all part of the tease!

My advice if you were to buy a pair would be to make sure you'll use them as they are quite pricey and to enjoy!

What do you guys think? let me know in the comments!
