Easter Decor!

Hi Everybody

My lovely little niece is coming over this easter weekend so me and my mum thought we'd make a real effort and make it special

Now being Swedish, Easter is a little different to the usual british one. You do see hint of the more european easter nowadays so some of these things I'm showing might be nothing new to you.

Anyway, I remember as a small girl going over to Sweden for the Easter holidays and my aunt and grandparents having little things which made it more special.

I think it's coming over here more and more but they would take a branch from the garden and decorate it with blown painted eggs and special little things dotted around the house.

Also instead of the chocolate eggs you get over here we'd get a cardboard egg which was decorated with pictures depicting rabbits on an Easter egg hunt filled with all sorts of individually wrapped chocolates and bonbons. I found this similar egg we used to have as kids on Amazon.

So using some of our old decorations and also purchasing some new little bits me and my mum are ready to decorate for easter

Firstly is this adorable ceramic egg my dad bought for my mum years ago. It's got a red ribbon on the top ready to hang from and easter branch.

We went to the shop Tiger and purchased a few little eater branch hanging decorations 2 packs of eggs and other little characters

We found these adorable glass hanging eggs in a little boutique shop.

So here is the end result of the easter tree.

We cut down a large branch from the garden and put it into a flower pot with gravel to hold it up.

For a majority of the decorations they're on string so they were easy to just hang up others required some bluetac to stick on the branches.

It's such a talking point to, everyone loves it when they come over.

Other little bits we've done are the typical daffodils and I spotted this cute little sign in Sainsbury's for £6 and couldn't resist.

I've got a couple more ideas to make this easter special so watch this space.

Aerial Hoop

Hi Everyone

So only 2 weeks ago I started aerial hoop and in that short amount of time I'm already addicted!

Ever since I started pole nearly 2 years ago I've had a love for all alternative fitness and exercise.

Now I do have an advantage from doing pole compared to the usual beginner but it doesn't negate the fact I am a beginner and find some things tricky as it's a moving abject and a pole is static. I need to remember not to be so aggressive like I am on pole.

Now here's some tips and advice for if you're wanting to start an aerial hoop class.

Research - Ask friends if they know of a studio or look online for somewhere in your local area. I'm lucky as the studio I do pole with do alot aerial skill classes so if you are in the South London/Surrey area come and check out Active Air Fitness

The right clothing is essential, the key is thickness!

Firstly leggings. I bought these at Primark for £7. Now they're not really my style but they're thicker than the standard cotton legging, but a plain black pair is still fine. You don't need skin grip like you do in pole so shorts are a no no for a beginner.

In terms of top anything goes. Go for a vest top if you want or rock a jumper. You still get the pressure pain in some areas but it's not as bad as the legs which is why what I say next is crucial.

LEGWARMERS! Now I usually reserve them for the likes of halloween or 80's themed parties but you need to dust them off from the bottom or you draw and wear them proud! Again the thicker the better. When shopping for some I discovered that party shop ones are pretty naff. All colour no substance and I happened to come across a pair whilst queuing in Primark. Now they're nothing pretty and are something to be only worn in the comfort of the studio (but power to you if you rock them anytime!)

Now if you can't find leg warmers thick knee high socks will do. My teacher wears them as well as one of my pole friends but I look sillier in them then I do legwarmers. Damn you short stubby legs!

If you're nervous to go on your own bring a friend. Some places do taster sessions or if like me you want to do it for yourself don't worry. A majority are women in the classes and you'll be surprised the camaraderie in classes where you help each other and cheer one another on. Plus you'll practice some doubles with the other ladies so don't be shy.

Some double work on my second week with my lovely classmate x

Oh and trust me you'll have classes where you think "I'll never get this" I have that after over a year at doing pole but PERSEVERE! Your body doesn't naturally do such movements and you might not be as bendy or strong as the girl next to you but carry on, it does get better because you will get there.

Finally I'm sorry to say this people but get ready for the bruises! You will hurt, especially the backs of your knees (hence the legwarmers). They will get better with time and gaining more strength but maybe stay away from the skirts for work if you don't want some curious looks.

My lovely bruises

I'll post some more pictures once I get better and actually remember to whip out my camera but for now I'll bid you wonderful people a farewell

Spring Optimism

Hi Everyone

God it's been so long since I've posted something!

After the bleak winter I've started to get into the swing of things more and get back to being the better me I want to be.

  •  I'm doing better at work and after not hitting target last quarter I'm on track for a promotion     (watch this space)

  • I'm running again! I have race for life and the colour run this year so must train be it indoors or even better in the sunshine

  • I'm not sure people would agree with this being a good thing but I'm back on the sunbeds. For me it cheers me up being tanned and for those few minutes I completely switch off on the bed and usually fall asleep :-P

  • I'm now doing aerial hoop as well as pole fitness and my word it's made me much stronger and my bingo wings have toned!
Hoop doubles with one of my fellow classmates. Look at those sexy white leg warmers!

  • Me any Toby are still going strong after alot of changes this year and have booked out summer        holiday :-D

Yes Those are my hotdog legs! Can't wait to lie by the pool!

I'm also going to try and blog more as I do enjoy just putting down my thoughts etc be it just for myself or be read by others.

Anyway early start tomorrow and I still need to straighten my hair!
